The York County Policy Council is pleased to offer a number of internship opportunities for current college students and recent graduates (students attending a graduate school may be considered on a case-by-case basis): Policy Research Intern, Event Coordination Intern, and Legislative Intern. All internships are unpaid, however some form of stipend is negotiable and discussed during the interview process.
Policy Research Internship
The Policy Research Interns will work closely with the YCPC’s team to conduct thorough public policy research and analysis. The internship’s focus is on local and state-level policy challenges. The internship will consist of a semester-long Policy Brief cornerstone project as well as 2-3 regular blog post submissions.
All interns will receive close mentorship and assistance throughout. The internship provides interns the flexibility to work on their own time and at their own pace, in accordance with deadlines set out by the Council during the post-acceptance interview.
Event Coordination Internship
The Event Coordination Interns will work closely with the Development and Community Outreach staff members to organize public forums, roundtable discussions, and other events as well as assist with some facets of public outreach. All interns will communicate regularly with the point-of-contact staff member and should to have a vehicle.
The Legislative Interns will work closely with the Policy Council’s team on reaching out to elected officials, political candidates, and other community members to share the YCPC’s Policy Briefs with them. Interns will have a chance to develop their communication and public speaking skills throughout the internship through communicating in a professional setting and giving presentations occasionally.
